Developing action plans
Action plans are the backbone of the performance improvement process. They map out what has to be done, who it will be done by, when it needs to be finished, how it will be done and any resources needed to support success.
Each plan also has a column headed 'Progress', used by the team leader to track and report the progress of each action to the leadership team.
The following links lead to examples of an action plan and an action tracker.
In the school improvement cycle, the inner circle depicts what is done and the outer circle depicts who does it. There is also a step called PDCA. This is an acronym for Plan, Do, Check, Actions and is a process for trialling a pilot strategy or idea. It occurs as one part of the overall action plan and may happen several times. The following link leads to an explanation of how PDCA works.
